Emily Cox

Emily Cox is a woodwind specialist, currently working with band students at Marshall Middle School. She is the daughter of two retired Wichita Public School teachers. Emily grew up attending Wichita Public School and graduating from North High. While in college, she worked as a para at Emerson Open Magnet School and Irving Elementary School.  

She holds a bachelors in Music Education with an endorsement in Special Music Education with a minor in Spanish language and a Master’s in Band Conducting from Kansas State University. She was a beginning band teacher in the Haysville Public schools from 2004 until 2021,  before leaving teaching to spend more time with her four daughters. Married to Chad, they enjoy spending time with family and entertaining friends at their home. 

Emily believes public education is the great equalizer in our society. Music education is essential to all students, regardless of age, gender, race, language, country of origin or socio-economic status.
